An introduction to using locally sourced trees for small scale timber frame construction. We will look at tree selection and a traditional approach to converting small dimension logs into components for use in building. Demonstrations include the conversion of logs into shingles and oak into timber frame pegs. Hands-on activities include using a froe, draw knife, side axe and shave horse.
